Priceless things my Daughter has said over the years ..... #Emily

Emily recently celebrated her 12th birthday and I was thinking about priceless things she had said growing up and here are a few.

#1.   When we lived in an apartmet block in Milltown on the 3rd floor and she was about 3 years old, I asked her to go and call the lift which was right out side our apartment door, she went out and called "Lift, Lift", it was so adorable.

#2.  When showing her how to put her runners on, I said before she laces them she need to pull out the tongue, my adorable 3 year old, stuck out "her" tongue!

#3.  We have a picture of a lot of famous Hollywood actors and actresses hanging on the wall, her father used to carry her up to the picture and poing out Elvis and say that's daddy and then poing out Marilyn Monroe (I wish) and say that's Mommy, so first year at school she told everyone her father was Elvis - poor child was mocked! (Never do this to your kids).

#4.  I was rescued from a sinking ship *The Oceanos* back in 1991, I was telling Emily about it at some stage, when a few years ago they were doing The Titanic at school, she told her teacher that her mom was on the Titanic! (Face in Palm, shake head).

How NOT to upset your child on a Monday morning ....

So I was complaining about aches and pains this morning and my husband said, "you also got aches", and he shook his head and said "Oh dear! we are going to have to put Emily up for adoption as they will have to put us out to pasture".

Yes all the age jokes are now coming up!

Well of course I told Emily this and boy did we have tears .....

Okay won't do that again.

Love my child.

Party Like a Rock Star

I guess you only turn 10 Once, and this birthday party seems to be so important for Em and she really wants to have it at home which at the end of the day, means loads and loads of work for me, but then I guess I have gotten away with that for the past 2 years.

So if you have any ideas for decor, cake etc let me have it - will show you the results once I have organized everything!

Our theme which I put in the title is : "Party like a Rock Star"

Our Viking Day Out in Dublin

So Em has a project to do and guess when it is due, yes Tuesday and like all kids she leaves everything till the last minute.  The only information we have is what we have managed to gather on the internet, so yesterday I booked tickets for the "Viking Splash Tour" and "Dublinia".

We didn't tell her we were going, so this morning we parked the car down Waterloo Road and trekked into town.  When we got to St. Stephens Green we first went to feed the ducks, Em saw the viking tour and asked if we could go, I then told her we were going.

It was so much fun, but it was oh so cold.  The driver has a wealth of knowledge about Dublin, some true and some fictional - but they all have a great sense of humor   I am going to do separate posts on some of the interesting features of the tour, so will not go into too much detail here, except to say it was money well spent!

The Driver explains to all the passengers about putting on their viking helmets, and then when we pass unsuspecting "Celts" we all look over the side and shout at the top of our voices "aaaaaaaaaaaarggggghhhhh" in real pirate fashion.  unsuspecting Celts are just random people walking along the street, concentrating on their own going on's.

We made a few people jump, got lots of smiles and waves and photos taken of us.  The tour was 90 minutes and part of it is on the Grand Canal, where we sail past U2's studios and the new Board Gais Energy Theater   Which I will talk about in another post.

What a life ...

I was just thinking what an amazing life my child has, she has been around the world, she has traveled extensively, and she really does have a wonderful life.  Last week was her birthday party and we did Movies "Kung Fu Panda 2" with her friends, and then went off to Eddie Rockets for a kiddies Meal.

Then on Sunday we had the adopted Grandparents over, Joe, Carla and Lisa and some kids from the neighborhood for snacks and cake.

Monday we did something but for the life of me I can't remember now, oh yes we took the LUAS into town to go and explore the new Disney store on Grafton street (what a disappointment, but I will leave that for another post).  Then on the way home, I took her to the gym for a swim.

Wednesday was sports day at school, I took the afternoon off and that night she had a sleep over at a friend (mid-week) only because D and I were off to the Def Leppard Concert, and then Friday she had a Birthday party after school a "pajama party".

Friday night I got a call from Granny Yvonne, who's daughter is here from SA, and her granddaughter Sarah wanted to spend time with Emily, so Saturday I went and picked her and her daughter up, who is a year younger than Em, took them Marlay park, then to Dundrum for some retail therapy, ice-cream for the kids, Coffee for the moms and a walk around Hamley's (so way over priced)!

Then back to our place for lunch and playing and finally dropped them at home on the way to our concert, and as it turned out D went and got Em a ticket for the Journey Foreigner Concert so she came with us.  We stopped at Milano's on the Quays for dinner first.  Then walked over to the O2, well I should do a post about that separately because my child was head banging standing clapping waving her arms just like a really Rock child (mum a wee but embarrassed)  - lol but I got over that :).

Today has been a home day because we got home so late and it hasn't stopped raining the whole day!
