Gulliver's Travels

I've never read the book, so had no idea what to expect and I sort of rail roaded Emily into going to see Gulliver's Travels (always make them think it is their idea), so the three of us were off to the movies.  I didn't realise that Billy Connelly was going to be in it as well, which meant it could only be good.  Thoroughly enjoyed and recommend to everyone who is looking for something light hearted to see.

My song of the week

Don't Let it Die - Hurricane Smith 1971

You may not know this, but Hurricane Smith was the Sound Engineer for the Beatles until 1965 and then went on to Produce Albums for Pink Floyd,  he was a pilot in the RAF and he was born before my mother - A man ahead of his times, here is the only song he ever made famous for himself.
Read is obituary here:  http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/mar/11/obituaries.mainsection

A mountainside, a flower grows
A riverside and the water flows forever
The jungle life of mystery
The wide and graceful history of life

Don't let it die
Don't let it die
The tiger's free, the kangaroo
It's up to me and up to you

For what we see is what we choose
What we keep or what we lose forever
The world is ours to tear apart
But what if it's too late to start again?

Don't let it die
Don't let it die
Or say good-bye - amen

Don't let it die
Don't let it die
Or say good-bye in the end

Sex and the City - I Am Woman (Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Krist...

I saw SATC 2 last night and must say I was not that impressed, it was really long a looong episode of the TV show, however the best thing about the movie was when the girls did Karaoke in Abu Dabi - this is the song they sang which was brilliant! The orginal was done by Helen Reddy, however this has a bit more beat to it. I remember listening to this song when I was a kid and probably haven't heard it in Many years.  Although I must say that when I use the words "I am woman hear me roar" it's normal when I am shouting down the house at Em or D.

The words to this song, have so much meaning too.

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again

CHORUS
Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

You can bend but never break me
'cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
'cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul

CHORUS

I am woman watch me grow
See me standing toe to toe
As I spread my lovin' arms across the land
But I'm still an embryo
With a long long way to go
Until I make my brother understand

Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
Oh, I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong

FADE
I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman

cat stevens Wild World

I've been listening to a lot of Cat Stevens lately, I have always loved his music since I was a child, the words of this song are so true.
