Movies, Movies, Movies

I don't often get to sit down and watch movies on TV but I must say that this week-end has been a great movie week-end, I still never did the filing or get round to the accounts but I did watch.

"The Talented Mr. Ripley" which I had never seen before and thought was absolutely brilliant.

"Gulliver's Travels" in the movie house as I mentioned previously

and today I watched the old classic

"Smokey & the Bandit" with Burt Reynolds - can't believe it's over 30 years since the movie was made.

Gulliver's Travels

I've never read the book, so had no idea what to expect and I sort of rail roaded Emily into going to see Gulliver's Travels (always make them think it is their idea), so the three of us were off to the movies.  I didn't realise that Billy Connelly was going to be in it as well, which meant it could only be good.  Thoroughly enjoyed and recommend to everyone who is looking for something light hearted to see.

Movies

I can't tell you the last time I saw an "adult" film at the movies, its seems that since Emily came along the only movies I get to see are animated, however I shall not complain because before Emily came along I can't remember when last I actually went to the movies to see a movie, oh wait I think it was in 2001 when D was in Ireland and I went to see run away bride with Heather, or of course with the girls on a girls night out in Dublin to see one or other Sex and the city movie.  However, I don't remember going on a movie date with my husband since before we were married ... sad.  But I enjoy the kids movies and today our little family went to see Shrek forever after, which as always has snipes in it that only the adults understand.

There were two adults sitting next to D thoroughly enjoying the movie, and guess what they had no kids with them, so just shows you that "DreamWorks" are very cunning in getting adults to watch their "kids" movies too.  Anyway it definitely is a must to see, and the Tooth Fairy and of course the plan is to see Toy Story 3 in 3D next, so watch this space.

Oh yes and of course Em enjoyed it so much she was clapping after the show!

The boat that rocked

The great thing about flying is that you get to see all the latest movies, I manged to see 17 again, and a whole host of other movies including Hana Montana but one movie that I thoroughly enjoyed and want to go and see when it eventually comes to the cinema in Dublin is "The boat that rocked", here is the trailer - anyone want to go with?

Tara Road

So I had it written in my mental diary to watch "Tara Road" on TV1 this week mainly because I remember when they were filming it in Dublin, we always saw the movie crew around the area where we work, and in fact they did some filming in the building across the road.

Well what a tear jerk er, I must have cried from beginning to end, thank goodness D wasn't around, I think he was working on the computer. It's based on a novel by Maeve Binchy about 2 woman, one American and one Irish. The Irish woman finds out that her husband has been cheating on her and the American woman had lost her son in a motor bike accident. They swap houses and the story continues from there.

A definite must watch especially for the gals.

STARDUST

I had a lazy Sunday afternoon yesterday and lay on the bed with the Portable DVD player and watched this movie, under the blankets with a 5 year old cuddled up to me. If you haven't seen it, it is worth seeing.
