Disclaimer

Don't dwell on who let you down, cherish those who hold you up!

Any posts on this site are the opinions of the author, they are not meant to offend anyone and of course are sometimes just stuff I have going on in my own head. If I want to vent my anger, I do it here, if I pissed off about something I do it here, but it is not my intention to harm any person in any way.

No small creatures were harmed in the making of this blog, and no leprechauns either.

If I say something that you think you can sue me on, don't waste your time as I haven't any money!

I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go. Things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right.
You believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together. * Marilyn Monroe *

Captain Corelli's Mandolin

Captain Corelli's Mandolin
Louis de Bernieres

Love is a temporary madness,
It erupts like
volcanoes and then subsides.
And when it subsides you have to make a
decision.

You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.
Because this is what love is.

Love is not breathlessness, it is not
excitement, it is not the promulgation of eternal passion.
That is just being "in love" which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.
Those that truly love, have roots that grow
towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom have fallen from their branches, they find that they are one tree and not two.

Desiderata by Max Ehrmann

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
